One test I didn't hear you mention it is a must to have checked as well is your DHEA. DHEA is a precursor for testosterone and also estradiol. Great podcast for those who need to know I hope it helps a lot of people. thanks, Karen.
here's a warning for people and you may say it at the end I don't know but do not whatever you do do not walk into a healthy food store or somewhere and buy over-the-counter estrogen, progesterone DHEA or testosterone you're setting yourself up for a catastrophe and I know because I did it back in the day when I was 30 every single person if they are going to take something and I don't recommend over the counter for hormones I just don't cause you don't know what else is in them but get test done. Get lab test done work with a compounding pharmacist. That knows what they're doing. Talk to them about the symptoms because sometimes and especially with people like me that is highly sensitive and it takes a tiny amount of anything to make a change, they might have to change my formula 0.05 mg per ML that's a very small change but I can feel the difference so please get your hormones checked if you're gonna take anything and a lot of times I know people will treat hot flashes with certain supplements like black, cohosh, and things like that, and I don't suggest that at all, I suggest getting your hormones, checked first to know where you stand because it may be something else it may not even be your hormones. I've woken up in the middle of the night and a puddle of sweat and it's actually my adrenals with your DHEA will tell you about your adrenals as well. So it could be stress related, or you know whatever I could go on and on about it, but Karen may mention this towards the end, but just something else that popped into my mind as I was listening to the podcast.
I had to pause for a minute when you were talking about birth control and ovarian cysts. because I actually had that as well and I can't remember which over it was at this point, but I remember that even though I had heavy menstrual cycles when they were kind of watching the cyst over a period of time one day it just ruptured and I bled tremendously. I didn't need a blood transfusion although I was very close to needing one and the body just corrected itself - but now I'm wondering if it was from the birth control that I have been taking for so long 🤔
One more thing I want to say before listening is that a lot of times too these hormones can go down different pathways, especially estrogen and I work very close with my female compounding pharmacist that I get my topical bio- identical HRT cream through. And so even though I'm postmenopausal, I still don't keep that low of an estrogen as the number say almost lab reports mine is much higher and I feel better with it higher, but sometimes I'll have certain symptoms and it would appear that I need more estradiol or estriol but it's not that I do it's that it's going down a different pathway and they do have a supplement for that and Karen may talk about it in the podcast. I don't know. I haven't listened to it yet so even having labs drawn or Saliva Test or however, people wanna do it you need multiple ones because you need to look at trends and not snapshots and also you may have enough of a certain hormone. It's just going down the wrong pathway and it has to be taught through a supplement to go down the correct pathway if that makes sense to anyone.
I see the word chemo and radiation and I just wanna vomit. They're both poison to our bodies and they don't help us and they will have so much to say about it but it wouldn't be good so I'll just stop there. I had a TVH with BSO when I was 40 and they said I have been going through menopause since I was 30 but I still have my ovaries until I had that done in 2000. So for people who don't know that's a Total Vaginal Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy. basically they took out everything because when I asked about my ovaries, he told me that of course risk of ovarian cancer isn't common but if you get it, you're probably gonna die from it and being a nurse I was like well you know what I don't even like to walk into a hospital definitely not as a patient so you're only going in once and take it all
I had tried everything and I had been on birth control since I was 14 because I had massive periods and I think it had horrible, massive menstrual cycles, and I think it had to do with being sexually abused as a child and as a teenager, my body was trying to get rid of my female parts and I've seen that working as a nurse if I ever had to work in any women's health or anything that there's definitely a psychological component to it
but again, we had tried everything and I've been on birth control from age 14 to age well almost age 40. I started having some heart palpitations and things that could've been related to the birth control pills and I went through acupuncture. I went through all kinds of alternative which I call primary health and nothing seem to help it, and so it finally came down to having what I stated above.I went on a topical bio- identical hormone replacement therapy at 40 when they discovered I have been going to menopause for about 10 years and they base that on my FSH level, which is follicle stimulating hormone and I felt like I was 18 again. The problem was I couldn't stop bleeding after that and so that's why I had the surgery because we could not get the bleeding to stop even after a D&C .... I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but I'm coming back to listen to it and I may have more to say after that.
Never happened to me and they were determined that they are refusing to provided to a non hormonal replacement because of the Risks of C***
Cyclofoslicate
No,
Endometriosis
HOLISTIC HEALTH AWARENESS, is definitely the answer.

@Kathleen Thorne RN, LMT, we are community of fellow Substackers and bring awareness to the " instant menopause " in my case
