I only celebrate Xmas because of my kids, who love it so much, because I was so good at it when they were tiny… but then I woke up, and saw how the world is drowning in “stuff” and I know I’m just one home, but I hope not buying into the holidays allows Mother Earth, just one breath, in a world of so much mess.
We’ve become a disposable generation, as well as an over consuming one.
AMEN sistah yes 🙌 totally agree. We do not go in elaborate holidays typically a drive a way. We go where the kids want to go and just hang out. I never thought about giving Mother Nature a break—- so true. Any gifts we did buy were wrapped in the kids artwork at the time.
My one daughter who is 30 realised the craziness of it all a few years back watching her roommate running herself into anxiety trips trying to fulfill A LISt — where is the fun in that?
I know right!?! If I could do Christmas break my way, I’d pack the car up and take everyone to a log cabin, for wood fires, and campside stories. Walks into the wild unknown looking for tree faces, fun-guys and animals to learn from. A stew on the stove, with fresh baked stone bread in the ashes (is that a real thing?!?) for Christmas dinner. Maybe one secret Santa each, but must be homemade by the giver. My kids are only 10.12.14 and would probably hate me, except maybe my youngest who’s my little soul mate; But I’d have the best Christmas ever! ✨🙏🏻
That is my kind of Christmas. I tried to get my family to do something similar — the gifts were a talent so if some baked, sang, played an instrument etc that would be the gift — my extended family were not keen 😂
