🎧Should I detox or drain? What's the difference?
Free monthly post. Drainage or detox? Which is better? Why do I need to anyway? Plus 3 programs worth checking out for better energy and happy summer days
Wow, this week its a long one, free and like a gift wrapped present, eager to unwrap. I am going to skip the weekly travel because of the length of this one. However, if you really look forward to my travels, please comment below and let me know. Sometimes I feel like I am writing for the sake of hearing crickets and the wind!
🎧Listen in as we first learn why April is the better month for a detoxification. Why I am not a big fan of detoxification rather drainage, understand the differences between detoxification and drainage, why its important to take time out for drainage, and why we should add drainage to any detoxification program, then, break down 3 kits that are perfect for April so that we can feel energized and refreshed for summer. Are you ready? Let’s go!
April showers bring may flowers, butterflies birds and happy hours. I get excited for April because it brings a vibrant energy as nature awakens. There's a quantum connection between the chi of nature and our own energy. Starting a drainage program in April seems more fitting, letting go of the stagnation from the dark, cold winter months and embracing a period of expansion and growth for warm and happy hours. It's genuinely the perfect time to allow the decay of the past to nurture our personal growth.
In fact, I have been waiting for April so that I can start my Comprehensive Homeopathic Detoxification Kit. I love this one because it is quite gentle and covers all of the emunctories and so much more. Before we get started, the name of the product might confuse you as read on to discover the difference between detoxification and drainage. Think this through with me for just a second. Which would you purchase? A Comprehensive Homeopathic Detoxification Kit or, a Comprehensive Homeopathic Drainage Kit? More than likely the Detoxification kit, right? Detoxifcation sounds so clean and sexy in comparison to drainage. Drainage sounds like something oozing and runny. Read on to discover why I choose to ooze and drain with homeopathic remedies, gemmotherapy and phytogen for myself, family and clients, not only for drainage, but for health complexities as well. But, first let’s explore the differences between detoxification and drainage.
Differences between detoxification and drainage
Detoxification and drainage are terms often used interchangeably in alternative medicine and holistic health to describe processes that aim to support the body's natural ability to eliminate toxins. While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, they do have different connotations depending on the context.
In the wild world of supplements, detoxification is like the superhero origin story we've all been sold. Detox supplements strut onto the scene, capes flying, armed with promises to vanquish toxins. It's as if our bodies are the battleground, and these detox heroes are here to rescue us from the evil clutches of unhealthy living.
Detoxification, is about actively transforming and removing toxins and harmful substances from our systems primarily focusing on the liver and the GI tract. I am sure the word “Cleanse” comes to mind with this definition. Cleanse is used interchangeable with detoxification, moreso focusing on the GI tract. Confusing, I know.
Why do we need a detox?
Physically we get ill due to lifestyle, environment, food choices affecting our cellular integrity. This includes
Organic deterioration - not having the right nutrients and enzymes to run our body
Obstruction - blockages and stones from the buildup of not having the right nutrients to run and drain our pathways for removal
Injury - out of our control, sometimes like a broken bone, accident
Malnutrition - not getting the nutritionist from our food to feed our cellular systems
Microbes; overgrowths, parasites, inadequate commensal protective bacteria
Toxins - in food, water, building, personal care, cleaning products, clothing, lifestyle
Stress day -to-day stress and no down time
Lifestyle alcohol, tobacco, street drugs lack of sleep
If detoxification programs comprehensively address a person's lifestyle, they undoubtedly contribute to easing these challenges. However, there's one crucial aspect they can't achieve, and it's an absolute necessity for achieving a healthy state in the body.
A state of needing a “detox” should also address our subconscious mind and trapped emotional experiences. Our physical form may seem solid, but in reality, our bodies are composed of dynamic energy fields. In the realm of quantum physics, consciousness is thought to be the force shaping our life experiences and the unconscious manifestations we bring into existence.
Within our being, there are varying vibrational frequencies characterized by different levels of energy. This spectrum ranges from larger and more intricate structures like organs, cells, and molecules to the more intricate levels of atoms, subatomic particles, and pure energy.
Detoxification programs that incorporate supplements generally target specific levels within the body, usually focusing on physical aspects like organs, cells, and molecules.
I believe there are two reasons why some might feel unwell after completing a supplement detox program. Firstly, their body's natural elimination routes might not be fully open. The organs, cells, and tissues could be clogged up with gunk (that’s a serious scientific term) that needs to be drained first, to ensure a successful detoxification.
Physically, drainage is about ensuring that the pathways in our body (known as emunctories) used for the elimination of waste are open and functionally optionally in order to release the toxins from our liver and have them travel into the colon for elimination. Drainage supports the body’s natural detoxification pathways. Because of this, they can be used as a pre-step to any successful supplement detoxification whether using supplement support or letting the body do it naturally. Or, we can use drainage remedies instead. If we focus merely on supplement detoxification it may force physiological functions which may lead to physiological disequilibrium. Using drainage remedies avoids this process by using the body’s own process and willingness.
The second reason, which is actually closer to the root cause of feeling congested and blocked, relates to disruptions in our energetic, mental, and emotional pathways.
Back to our energy field levels, homeopathic, gemmotherapy and phytogens work on the physical and energetic fields.
When we become ill especially when we have medically unrecognized symptoms that physicians do not have a medication for, we must look to drainage. I work with some complex cases. At the crux of the underlying cause are the emotional, energetic disturbances.
Sure, we can get to a point physically where we feel fantastic. Eventually, the trapped and stored emotions are gong to rear up and demand attention.
The energetic emotional causes include;
Chakra-energy disturbances
Mental energy blocks
Meridian imbalances
Temperament
Miasm
Constitution
A standard detoxification may bring about the release of emotions linked to energy fields, but it may not actively facilitate their release. This is where the assistance of homeopathic and plant remedies becomes crucial. In fact, it is advisable to incorporate homeopathic and plant remedies initially, before diving into a comprehensive supplement detoxification program. These remedies play a vital role in addressing emotional aspects and should be considered as a valuable preparatory step in the journey toward detoxification.
Drainage is about opening up and cleaning out the little pathways in our emunctories that supplements just can not get to.
Emunctory is the organs of the body that gives off waste products and serves to carry waste out of our body. Our emunctories include;
Liver
Kidneys
Respiratory
Skin
Intestine
Lymphatic system
Glymphatic system
Intercistual and messentary
Cardiovascular system
Drainage supports the body's natural elimination processes without imposing force. The process involves addressing blockages at both the extra-cellular and intra-cellular levels. This is accomplished through re-mineralization, serving as co-factors for enzymes in organ processes.
For instance, have you looked at the anatomy and physiology of the kidney? The sketches above are simplified and it still looks mighty complicated. On a side note, did you notice the minerals involved in the filtration process? Did you also happen to notice the bottom right hand corner adrenal sketch?
What you are seeing to the right there, are the adrenal glands. Our adrenal glands sit on top of our kidneys. They are responsible for our response to stress and situations of stress. Notice how they are interconnected with the digestive organs? They are interconnected with our liver, small intestine, colon, spleen, stomach and pancreas. This is why when it comes to detoxification programs, we need to start with a drainage program first. In fact, most detoxification programs do not address the adrenal system which should be, especially with the amount of stress and burnout being experienced today.
In Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), our organs are believed to be interconnected with emotional energy vibrations. When we neglect to address and release stagnant emotions, they can impact the energetic balance of the corresponding organ. To illustrate this concept let’s circle back to the kidneys and adrenal glands as an example to better understand the intricacies of our energetic physiology.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the kidneys, ears, and bladder are believed to be energetically connected to the emotion of fear. The Kidneys are considered the root of the body's Yin and Yang energies and are closely associated with the adrenal glands in terms of function. The Kidneys store Jing, which is often equated with essence or vital energy, and govern the body's growth, development, and reproductive functions. The adrenal glands' role in producing hormones that regulate stress and energy levels can be seen as a manifestation of the kidney's function in maintaining the body's vitality and resilience.
When the kidneys are imbalanced or deficient, it can manifest as excessive fear or an inability to cope with fearful situations. Likewise, chronic or unresolved fear can weaken the kidneys over time, leading to further imbalances in the body.
The ears, being associated with the water element along with the kidneys, can also reflect imbalances related to fear. Experiencing chronic fear or anxiety may manifest as symptoms such as tinnitus or hearing loss, indicating an imbalance in the water element.
The Bladder, as another organ associated with the water element and connected to the Kidneys, also affected by the emotion of fear which weakens the Kidneys and may contribute to bladder-related issues such as frequent urination or urinary incontinence.
Chronic or unresolved fear leads to various physical and emotional imbalances in the body and, are important in restoring harmony to these organs and their associated meridians.
Persistent feelings such as anger, hatred, bitterness, greed, hopelessness, loneliness, and grief can disrupt the balance in our system, impacting the functioning of our organs. Trapped negative emotions exert stress on our cells, and our cells cannot differentiate between external stressors and internal emotional turmoil; to them, it's all perceived as negative energy.
If our kidneys (and adrenal glands) have been energetically and physically stressed, this affects the lungs, brain, heart, bones, metabolism, GI tract, liver, and blood cells. This is why it is important to get to the underlying cause, of a physical and emotional blockages.
Physical removal of blockages through drainage remedies also supports the removal of mental and emotional states encouraging a state of dynamic equilibrium and self-regulation so long as their are energetic compounds put in place to help dissipate the exchange of energy.
Homeopathic compounds help create a more supportive environment for processing and releasing trapped emotions. Drainage is much gentler and does not push the body beyond its physical and emotional limits. This is where true healing begins and goes well beyond the limitations of a detoxification program.
Homeopathic, gemmotherapy, and phytogens offer distinctive methods to enhance the body's energy and facilitate drainage and detoxification, enabling the effective elimination of toxins. These combination remedies are gentle and user-friendly.
Let's delve into a few types of drainage methods that I have personally utilized, both for myself, my family, and my clients. It's important to note that I don't reserve these treatments solely for annual detoxes; rather, I incorporate them regularly to address symptoms linked to the root causes of illnesses, releasing and rebalancing.
UNDA Numbered Compounds
In my practice, I frequently utilize Homeopathic UNDA numbered compounds, catering to clients of various ages, with my youngest being just 6 years old. Personally, I've been administering these remedies to my own daughter since she was 10 years old, and I continue to do so today. Throughout the challenges presented by Covid, I leaned heavily on UNDA compounds, complemented with Phytogens and Gemmotherapy, to support myself, my family, and my clients.
As founded by Samuel Hahnemann, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that emphasizes the body's innate ability to heal itself. It is based on the principle of "like cures like," meaning that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can be used in a highly diluted form to treat similar symptoms in a sick person. Homeopathy considers each individual as unique, taking into account not just physical symptoms but also emotional and mental aspects. Treatments are tailored to the individual's specific symptoms and overall constitution. Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances and are prepared through a process of dilution and succession to enhance their therapeutic properties while minimizing any potential side effects. This gentle yet effective approach has made homeopathy a popular choice for many people seeking alternative and complementary healthcare options.
To encourage the Biotherapeutic drainage of a system, here are how the UNDAs are used to support the five stages of drainage;
Cellular stage: toxins resulting from cellular catabolism
Hepatic stage: filters are needed to control toxins eliminated by the cells traveling into the circulation of the blood
Secondary catabolic stage; catabolism creates harmful substances known as iatrogenic toxins from the breakdown of substances in and coming into our body. Secondary catabolism is the breakdown so that the body remove these toxins and sends them through the emunctories
Renal and pulmonary stage: catabolized acidic toxins are eliminated by the kidneys or lungs
Emunctory stage: Once the toxins have been degraded enough to be eliminated, they are carried by the remedy to the mucous membranes that are capable of serving as primary emunctories. If this elimination is inadequate, the body may use inflammation to force the toxins to be eliminated by the same emunctories to create balance in the homeostatic systems also known as self-regulation which are controlled by the following systems;
electrolytic
enzymatic
biochemical
Immune
Hormonal
Circulatory
Nervous
UNDA Homepathic remedies are a gentle way to get symptom relief and are easy to use. They are considered safe for use in individuals of all ages, including infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
What are Phytogens
Phytogens, also referred to as Phytotherapy, are a category of remedies used in gemmotherapy, which is a branch of herbal medicine that utilizes the embryonic tissues of plants for therapeutic purposes. Phytogens specifically refer to remedies made from the buds of trees and shrubs.
These buds contain a high concentration of plant growth factors, phytohormones, vitamins, minerals, and other bioactive compounds that are believed to offer various health benefits. Phytogens are prepared through a process of maceration, where the buds are soaked in a mixture of water, alcohol, and glycerin to extract their medicinal properties. This extract is then highly diluted to create potent yet gentle remedies that can be easily absorbed by the body.
Phytogens are used to address a wide range of health concerns, including inflammation, immune system support, detoxification, hormonal balance, and tissue regeneration. They are considered safe for use in individuals of all ages, including infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
Overall, phytogens offer a natural and holistic approach to health and wellness, harnessing the healing power of plant buds to support the body's inherent ability to heal and regenerate. They are often used in conjunction with other gemmotherapy remedies, as well as homeopathy and other natural healing modalities, to create personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
The biochemical effects of plant therapy also evoke phytotherapeutic energetic principles – the belief that plants and plant remedies hold a vital energetic force. Much of the power of phytotherapy is therefore in the remedy’s ability to harness and carry not only the biochemical benefits but the energetic aspect as well.
Consider this with me; the plants we consume, those grown from the earth rather than lab-engineered "plant-based" foods, contain all the essential nutrients required for optimal bodily function. Now, picture how Phytotherapy has the potential to address both physical and energetic imbalances at their root. Phytogens are made from plants full of the healing and balancing nutrients we need.
Homeopathic compounds and phytogens offer a holistic approach to drainage and detoxification, addressing emotional, spiritual, and physical imbalances. Through their gentle yet potent action on the body's systems, these remedies support the release of trapped emotions, promote spiritual well-being, and facilitate the elimination of toxins at both the physical and energetic levels. By restoring balance and vitality to the body, UNDA compounds and phytogens contribute to overall health and wellness, offering a comprehensive solution for holistic healing and detoxification.
The following three programs have been personally tried and tested by both myself and my clients. These programs are designed to support and facilitate the drainage of our emunctories, promoting balance in mind, body, and spirit. They are gentle and user-friendly, with recommendations provided on the label. If you're concerned about potential reactions, you can start with half the recommended dosage and gradually increase it, or you can stick to the half dosage as it will still yield effective results. Additionally, you have the flexibility to add the drops to a reusable water bottle and sip throughout the day, highlighting the convenience and adaptability of homeopathic remedies. Always take remedies away from food, and can be taken together. Add the drops to under the tongue for 20 seconds then swish around the mouth before swallowing.

DesBio Homepathic support
Desbio is a company I have been using for a couple of years and was part of my training for my Certified Mind Body Specialist. In fact, it was part of the reason why I wanted this specific certification to really get the full support of these remedies. I was impressed what they did for me.

If you would like to get a little deeper and want one of these programs based on your health and wellness needs, set up a 30 minute consultation so I can help you hone in on the right one.
This was super long, however, worth it. Lately, the people I have encountered have shared their stories of either themselves or their loved ones stricken with cancer and chronic illnesses. It made me think, what can I do to help others? How can I help? This is one way, but writing about physical and mental health. If we could just start taking really good care of ourselves, upgrade our food, upgrade our lifestyle, imagine how we could feel? Imagine if we dealt with our emotional wellbeing and let go of what is no longer serving us how much more joy we could bring into our lives. Imagine how much more joy we could spread. Imagine living a life of no limits! Is this not worth a 14-30 day break in a 12 month period?
Have a great week and drain on my friends!
